Gradudates from the Accounting School of Business and Information Systems will choose careers as Accountants and Auditors who examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records for the purpose of giving advice or preparing statements. They also offer advice on recording financial and budgetary systems. The various duties of accountants include analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine the assets, liabilities, profits and losses, tax liability, or other financial activities of an organization. On a daily basis, they will prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Some of the job tasks include computing taxes owed and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.

To analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses, and report to management regarding the finances of establishment are also their responsibilities.

Financial records are kept in order by Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks who compute, classify and record numerical data. Responsibilities include any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.

Professionals may also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

Most firms require previous training and at least a bachelor's degree. Many firms will accept training as a substitute for work experience. Few firms actually require applicants to have passed the CPA test. Only 19% need applicants to have computer literacy and experienced with MS Word, MS Excel, accounting, and tax preparation software packages.
