Alvernia College

Alvernia College, now known as Alvernia University, is a college based in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Alvernia University atmosphere and curriculum promotes its Franciscan values and ideals. Alvernia University's academic programs include undergraduate programs, graduate programs, and continuing studies. Undergraduate programs span more than 50 programs of study in liberal arts and professional programs. Graduate degrees at Alvernia University include 22 programs, such as master's and doctoral programs in business administration, community counseling, and education. Continuing studies for adult students include 18 programs in business, education, and liberal studies.

Alvernia's continuing studies include bachelor's degrees, associate's degree programs, and credit certificate programs. Credit certificate programs enable students to work in behavioral health counseling or human resources. The behavioral health studies certificate requires prior completion of a bachelor's degree.

Alvernia University also offers graduate degree programs with certification, and graduate certification programs. One option for Alvernia University graduate students is to earn an MBA graduate degree online. The MBA Online is the only online program that Alvernia University offers.

Continuing studies admission is based on an online application that students can complete at their leisure. Undergraduate admission requires an application which students can complete online or on paper, a high school transcript or GED, reports from testing agencies, and two letters of recommendation for some programs. Alvernia University does process transfer credits, and the transfer admissions process is the same as for high school students but requires transcripts from other institutions attended.

Alvernia College students are eligible for financial aid, depending on the program. Students may be eligible for federal and state financial aid, as well as scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study.
