Accounting Schools in Texas
The first step in preparing for a career as an accountant is to choose an accredited school. There are many fully accredited accounting schools in Texas colleges and universities, as well as online. Business degrees with a special focus on accounting can be awarded at the associate's, bachelor's, or master's level. While doctoral degrees are available, they are more likely to be found in research than in business. Accountant training covers many subjects besides math, finance, and accountancy. Students also learn payroll practices, taxation for individuals and businesses, auditing, economics, law, and business. Attention is also given to computer programs and technology that are related to this field. After completing their education and gaining work experience in the field, some choose to become Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), but they have to meet the state requirements for education and experience, in addition to taking a special examination.
